YOULEAD Presented at the United Nations Headquarters in New York

Joining global discussions on the future of youth and sport

The YOULEAD – Leading the Game project was presented at the United Nations Headquarters in New York as part of the international initiative “One World, One Game, One Goal.”

The event brought together young people, decision-makers, international organisations, governments and sports associations to discuss some of the most pressing challenges and opportunities facing the global sport sector.

Putting young people at the centre of the conversation

A key focus of the initiative was the role of young people in shaping the future of sport. Discussions explored how youth can be better supported and empowered through meaningful participation, leadership opportunities and more inclusive governance structures.

The programme also addressed wider topics affecting young people in sport, including mental health and well-being, highlighting the importance of creating safe, supportive and inclusive sporting environments.

Promoting the vision of YOULEAD

Participation in the event provided an important opportunity to showcase the objectives of the YOULEAD project to an international audience.

The project’s mission to strengthen youth participation, promote gender-balanced leadership and encourage more inclusive governance in sport closely aligns with the themes discussed throughout the initiative. By engaging with global stakeholders and exchanging ideas with representatives from different sectors, the project continues to contribute to the international dialogue on the future of youth leadership in sport.

Strengthening international cooperation

Being part of the discussions at the United Nations Headquarters demonstrates the growing recognition of the importance of empowering young people beyond the field of play. Initiatives such as One World, One Game, One Goal reinforce the need for collaboration between sports organisations, public institutions and international partners to create opportunities for young people to actively participate in decision-making and help shape the future of sport.
